The Walmart Plaza Showdown: A Glimpse into the World's Least Urgent Getaway

Listen to this post

Well, well, well, just when I thought the stories coming out of Florida couldn’t get any more off-kilter, here we are! Buckle up, folks (insert best safety procedure before lift-off, wink), because we’re about to delve into the tale of possibly the most relaxed, zero-rush carjacking you've ever heard! Gives ‘chill’ a whole new meaning, don't you think?

Open the curtains on this riveting spectacle in Orlando, where a woman allegedly decides to carjack...wait for it...a Walmart security guard’s vehicle. Yes, you heard that right. Forget high-speed police chases in shiny Mustangs, or stealthy swipes of top-of-the-line sports cars; our lady has decided to go rogue in possibly the most unrogue of all places, a humble Walmart lot.

Can't you just visualize this scene? According to the arrest affidavit, she allegedly pushes the uniformed security guard in the face, gets into his marked security vehicle, adjusts the seat, and tries to put it in drive. But the guard manages to turn the vehicle off and remove the keys.

And then, what's this? She doesn't dash off, burn rubber, or leave chaos in her wake. Instead, when police arrive, she is reportedly still sitting there in the driver’s seat drinking a soda.

You can almost hear the thought: "Well, the car isn’t moving. Might as well have a soda."

James Bond has nothing on this lady. 'Sipping Soda' over 'Shaken, not stirred' any day. You just can't make this stuff up!

But it gets better. Not only does our soda-sipping alleged carjacker not execute her getaway, but she takes the time to adjust the seat first. There is something wonderfully absurd about allegedly attempting a carjacking but making sure the ergonomics are right before departure. Hello, occupational health and safety priorities. Who cares about felonies when there are lumbar adjustments to be made, right?

Jokes aside, one has to shake their head in disbelief at how the Walmart experience has expanded. Apparently groceries, tires, prescriptions aren't enough. They've now added to their repertoire the attempted acquisition of security vehicles. What is this, the latest club membership perk? Buy in bulk and stand a chance to win your very own Walmart security mobile? Retail therapy just took on a whole new meaning!

Perhaps the greatest image, though, is that of the officer-arrival visual. Imagine being dispatched to a reported carjacking site expecting chaos and mayhem. You’ve got the adrenaline rush, heart pounding in your ears, the works. And what do you find? Not a desperate criminal in mid-flight, but instead, a woman reportedly still sitting in the security vehicle, nonchalantly sipping a beverage. It's as if she was waiting for halftime to end. You couldn't write a better skit if you tried.

Police said she initially did not comply with commands to get out of the vehicle. She was eventually arrested and faces carjacking and battery charges. Those are allegations and charges, of course, not convictions.

In all seriousness, though, carjacking is a dangerous and illegal act. And yet, from a safe, non-involved, bystander point-of-view, one can't help but shake their head and chuckle at this particular Florida carjacking incident. I guess they really weren't kidding when they said, "Expect the unexpected."

So, dear readers, stay safe out there and remember: if you’re planning the least urgent getaway in history, don't forget your soda can and comfort settings. Because nothing screams efficiency like a relaxed alleged carjacker. The world truly is a fascinating place!

He Threw Dog Sh*t at His Neighbor... Then Grabbed a Scooter

Listen to this post

Oh, glorious day! We’ve got quite the tale from the Sunshine State for you today, folks. Just in case you were worried that Florida was running out of award-winning crazy stories to keep you entertained, rest assured, the well of madness is as deep as ever. So, buckle up, because today we're venturing into the thrilling tale of neighborly love gone awry, starring a disgruntled Florida man with a serious aversion to dog feces.

Florida man. Two words that bespeak a world where every day is a confusing, terrifying, and amusing joyride. You hear the phrase, and you know you’re in for a wild ride, a story that’ll have you both cringing and laughing in equal measure. And on this fine day, our Florida man has outdone himself.

Let’s set the scene. It's a bright sunny morning: birds are chirping, kids are playing, and the common domesticated pooch is doing its morning business as is customary. Life as we know it, right? Everyone’s enjoying their day until the proverbial sh*t hits the fan, or rather, someone apparently fails to pick it up.

Enter our esteemed Florida man. According to deputies, he had been complaining about his neighbor not cleaning up after the dogs. He told officers that he had complained about the dogs doing their business in his yard, had spoken to the neighbor's wife about it, and several hours later the mess was apparently still there. At that point, he said he moved it to the edge of the driveway.

Now, he did what any reasonable adult would do. You're thinking he went to have another polite conversation with his neighbors about picking up after their dog, right? Oh, no. This is Florida we are talking about, and by 'reasonable' we mean 'completely unhinged.'

According to the neighbor, our chosen champion allegedly opened the door to the home while holding the dog feces, shouted at him, and then threw it at him. And yes, according to the report, it actually hit him. At this point, we have officially left the neighborhood disagreement portion of our program and entered a category of conflict I don't remember seeing covered in any homeowners association handbook.

The neighbor reportedly tried to get him off the property, and a physical fight followed. According to the arrest affidavit, the Florida man then allegedly struck his neighbor in the head. Apparently deciding that dog poop and fists simply weren't enough tools for resolving a disagreement between grown adults, he allegedly grabbed a scooter, lifted it over his head, and threatened the neighbor with it.

A scooter.

Because apparently there comes a moment in every dog-poop dispute when you look around and think, "You know what this situation needs? Transportation equipment."

Now, our Florida man had his own version of events. Deputies said he claimed the two neighbors had an understanding that they could enter each other's homes without knocking and that the neighbor shoved him first when he went over to discuss the dog issue. He even told officers there were "two sides to this story." And technically, he's right. There are two sides to most stories. It's just that most of them don't include airborne dog crap and a scooter being held over someone's head.

There was, however, one little wrinkle in the whole "we can just walk into each other's houses" arrangement. According to deputies, the neighbor produced a recording in which he had reportedly told the man that he was no longer welcome in his home. So apparently the neighborhood open-door policy may have expired before the poop arrived.

And after all of that, this wasn't merely a case of two guys cooling off and agreeing to keep their dogs, poop, scooters, and fists on their respective sides of the property line. Deputies arrested the man, who now faces charges of burglary with battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and simple battery. Those are allegations and charges, of course, not convictions.

The moral of our dear Florida man story isn't your run-of-the-mill 'pick up your dog's poop'. It's more 'next time you see dog poop in your yard, just remember that it could always be worse'. So, stay safe out there and remember, folks, dog poo etiquette isn't just a consideration, it's apparently capable of becoming a full-blown law enforcement matter, especially if you live in Florida.

And there you have it, another magical moment in Florida's history, because where else would someone allegedly decide a bit of dog crap called for throwing it at another human being, getting into a fight, and eventually introducing a scooter into the negotiations? Ah, Florida, you never disappoint. Stay tuned for our next installation of ‘What the hell, Florida?'

So, until our next beautiful, bizarre, and wholly bewildering story shakes us out of our humdrum existence, a word to the wise from your favorite sarcastic blog: watch where you step, watch where your dog does, and apparently, keep an eye on the scooters too.

They Bought Tickets to the Space Needle… Then Jumped Off It

Listen to this post

Well, you've heard of 'living life on the edge,' but those two mysterious guys in Seattle took it one notch, or rather, 605 feet, up. Yes, they did what your average rule-abiding, law-abiding souls like us would call 'absurdly insane.' They purchased tickets to the iconic Space Needle, climbed all the way to the top, and then, wait for it... JUMPED OFF. I mean, why the hell not?

Now, before you all start rummaging for your helmets and parachutes, ready to dive headfirst into the adrenaline-rush package of BASE jumping off an iconic landmark, let me just take a moment to say: DON’T. Why? Because it’s illegal, and because, you know, common sense.

As AP reported, not only did these daredevils take an unsolicited leap from the Space Needle, but they also did it in a true ninja style. They casually disappeared into a restroom, emerged wearing helmets (props to them for at least thinking about safety), gave the glass barrier what I can only imagine was a cheeky salute, and then made their leap.

Naturally, the Seattle police were not impressed. To them, it’s not a matter of 'Yippee ki-yay'; it’s an all lights flashing, sirens wailing, 'you're under arrest for trespassing' situation. And since you're probably wondering, no, these audacious fellows haven't been identified or nabbed. Their identity remains as elusive as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. You’ve got to admit, it's a little impressive...

The question is: was it worth it? Was the thrill of defying gravity, the exhilaration of the fall, the snapshot of Seattle shrinking beneath them worth the potential for criminal charges and whatever consequences may follow? Maybe in their helmet-clad, adrenaline-junkie brains, it was.

Schedule this narrative under 'whacky headlines of the week.’ I bet the whole escapade was more thrilling than your morning cup of coffee, eh? But again, let’s leave the groundbreaking, gravity-defying stunts to these mischievous thrill-chasers and stick to reveling in our lackluster, ever-so predictable, and law-abiding lives.

Because let’s be real: The most extreme 'jump’ we common folks should ever be taking at the Space Needle is probably jumping to conclusions about where we should eat lunch afterward. Let the daredevils be daredevils, but do remember, what goes up must come down, especially when it's leaping off a 605-foot tall landmark... Without permission.

And there you have it: ordinary folks buying tickets to the Space Needle, then jumping off it. Seattle, what a wonderful, never-dull city you are. Stay safe out there, people. After all, this is an adjective we'd love to keep attached to our dear lives.

Time Clock Drama: When Your Twin Steals Your Shift

Listen to this post

Yesterday, I’m minding my own business when bam; HR hits me up with a curveball.
They want to chat about one of our "dedicated" employees. Seems this guy clocked out at 9:30 PM. Only problem? His shift ends at 3:00 PM.

Now here’s where it turns into premium cable. See, we’ve got these adorable little things around the building, maybe you’ve heard of them cameras. Oh, and our time clock? It’s not some punch card dinosaur. Nope. It’s high-tech. Facial recognition. Every time someone clocks in or out, their mug gets front-row billing.

So, naturally, we review the footage. And boom it’s him. Plain as day. We pull him aside, and what does he do?
Denies. Everything.

Apparently, he believes either:

  1. He’s being deep-faked by Skynet, or
  2. He has a criminally-inclined twin sneaking around, impersonating him just to clock out six hours late.

I’ll give it to him, it’s a bold strategy.

Now, because we’re saints (and mildly entertained), we give him a mulligan. Adjusted the time, kept it moving.

You’d think the guy would be grateful, right?

Wrong.
Today: no-call, no-show.

You seriously. Can't make this shit up!

The 2:30AM Crash & Dash Chronicles

Listen to this post

Can we Take a moment to appreciate the sheer brilliance of humanity at 2:30 AM.

There I am, deep in dreamland, when I’m jolted awake by what sounds suspiciously like a car crash. Maybe it was my imagination… except my dog bolts up like she heard a DoorDash guy with beef jerky. So now I’m racing to the front door like I’m in an action movie.

And there it is: two cars awkwardly huddled together outside my house like they’re whispering secrets. A dazed guy is standing next to one, and when I ask if there's been an accident, he confirms it; with the same energy as someone who’s just remembered they left the oven on.

Then out comes a young lady, clearly shaken; but oddly confident. “No need to call 911,” she slurs. “AAA is on the way.”
Thanks, Miss Optimism, but considering her bumper just lost a fight with a curb, I go ahead and make the call anyway.

By the time the cops arrive, poof; they’re gone. Houdini would be proud. They leave behind a banged-up car with fresh 30-day tags, like a breadcrumb trail for bored insurance adjusters.

One officer and I inspect the scene. Apparently, our leading lady took a late-night off-roading detour: clipped a tree, jumped a curb, and came to a stop directly in front of my house. Was my siding that mesmerizing? We may never know.

Now here’s where I admit I’m making an assumption but come on, the guy clearly knew her. This wasn’t a random fender-bender. The whole thing had the awkward vibe of “I probably should’ve stopped this” written all over it.

And if she was in the state it looked like she was in, wouldn’t it have made more sense to take her home instead of following her? What was the plan? Watch her crash, then offer emotional support from the sidewalk?

Instead, he stood there and let her drive herself into a criminal record; complete with 30-day tags, police reports, and probably a weekend in holding before Monday court. And let’s be real: there’s a long line of people about to send her bills the city, the court, the tow yard, and karma. Possibly in that order.

But here’s the thing: it could’ve been worse. A tree and a curb are lucky victims. It could’ve been a pedestrian. Another driver. Or God forbid my dog, who now thinks she’s part of the neighborhood watch.

Just when I think the night’s over, there’s another knock. The cops found her and want me to ID her. Here’s the catch: at 2:30 AM, I could barely remember what planet I was on, let alone describe a vanishing act in yoga pants.

Two takeaways:

  1. Props to the cops; they were professional and polite.
  2. Casually running the plates on my car while it sat quietly in my own driveway? A bit much. A simple “Mind if we check your license?” would’ve done the trick. What really annoyed me is that my car wasn’t even part of the incident just happened to be parked in my driveway near the drama, like an innocent bystander getting frisked at a crime scene.

So here I am, still shaking my head at this grand exit strategy. Did they honestly think they could hit and run in the era of Ring doorbells, camera phones, and digital breadcrumbs?

Newsflash: the car, the tags, the calls it all leaves a trail.

Another chapter in the You Can’t Make This Shit Up files, brought to you by your local nighttime dramatist.

The Floor Tech Who “Seen That” - But Didn’t Mop It

Listen to this post

Day after day, we walk into work without realizing the absurd little circus acts happening right under our noses. Last week, during my rounds, I stumbled onto a scene so ridiculous it could’ve been scripted by a bad sitcom writer.

Enter: the Floor Tech. Remember that. His one job? Floors.

I'm wandering down the hallway when I spot a juice spill. No big deal that's life. I track down our Floor Tech, chilling like royalty in the residents' sitting room. Keeping a straight face, I ask if he could maybe, just possibly, mop up the juice spill.

His response? Absolute gold:
"Ya, I seen that."

You what now? You saw it. And... just admired it? Took mental notes? Sketched it for later?

But wait; it gets better.

Later, a coffee spill appears in the same spot. Different liquid, same tragedy. I hunt down the Floor Tech again. His response?
"Ya, I seen that too."
Delivered with the enthusiasm of a sloth on a NyQuil drip.

Bro, at this point you're not a Floor Tech, you're a Floor Enthusiast. A Spill Connoisseur. Hell, maybe even a budding spill historian.

To anyone wondering if our guy is preparing for a Netflix special called "The Art of Watching Shit Happen," all I can say is; we can only hope.

Stick around for more daily chuckles and unintentional masterpieces here at SpillByBill; where we proudly live by one motto:
"You Can't Make This Shit Up."

Giant Eagle, A Greeting, and One Hell of a Plot Twist

Listen to this post

You ever head to the grocery store expecting nothing more than overpriced grapes and a self-checkout machine that judges you silently? Yeah, same. But life, in its infinite wisdom, decided I needed a little razzle-dazzle during my canned bean run.

So I’m strolling through the parking lot of Giant Eagle, mentally debating whether I want real produce or just give up and eat cereal for dinner again, when I lock eyes with this guy walking by. Normal dude. Hoodie, sneakers, probably wondering if he forgot his shopping list.

Then, out of nowhere BAM! he hits me with it.

“Hey, Honkey.”

That’s it. That’s the greeting. No build-up. No context. Just straight-up sitcom energy tossed into aisle five.

And the wildest part? He said it with the same casual tone you’d use for “nice weather today” or “hey, you dropped your receipt.”

I didn’t know whether to laugh, nod, or check if I was accidentally in the middle of a sketch comedy bit. Look, I’ve been called a lot in my life some flattering, some felony-worthy but this? This was new. And weirdly wholesome? I don't know, man. The world’s weird.

So, to the mystery man with the surprise greeting you, sir, are the main character today. And to the rest of us: beware, your next grocery trip might just include a cameo from the unexpected.

Because folks… you can’t make this shit up.

Sandwich Smuggler: A Drive-Thru Mystery

Listen to this post

Ah, the sacred ritual of ordering fast-food a process designed for simplicity, but occasionally serves up a slice of life's absurdities. Some shit you simply can't invent, like my recent rendezvous at Dunkin'.

I'm at the drive-thru, you know, doing the usual asking for a sandwich and a drink. I roll up to the service window and meet the youthful purveyor of my food. He offers me my drink in complete normality, but his hesitation with the straw implies we're straying off the beaten path of a typical transaction.

As he scans the mystical scriptures of the order screen, he throws me a curveball. "Did you order a donut?" A harmless inquiry, to which my answer was a no-brainer, "no." Alas, the plot thickens.

He lays eyes on my sandwich as if it's holding Pandora's box, then his gaze diverts towards my car. There it sits innocently, a white bag on the front seat, minding its own darn business.

"What’s that?" He prods, as though anticipating a grand revelation. To satisfy his curiosity (and to assert my innocence), I reach over, crumpling the suspense. "Oh, old bag," he realizes, returning to the reality of the Dunkin' drive-thru.

For the grand finale, he finally hands over my sandwich, relieving himself of his self-assumed duty as the drive-thru detective. And there I sit, accused, tried, and acquitted of sandwich smuggling before I could even take a sip of my drink.

So, my dear readers, it seems even a simple run to Dunkin can turn into a wild whodunit. Can't make this shit up, folks!

Courtesy: Bill, Dunkin' customer and part-time scapegoat.
